By the end of the module, students will have gained the skills necessary to effectively translate fashion concepts into visual representations.
Task 01 - Experimentations on Media : Hatching on Pen
Week 01
In our first class for this module, Mr. Jr provided us with a brief overview of the course and outlined the materials we would need to complete our assignments for the semester. After the briefing, he asked us to explore avant-garde fashion editorials, which would serve as inspiration for our first assignment.
Drawing with a pen to create precise, consistent lines for a complete illustration was a completely new experience for me. While I had previously worked with pencils, watercolors, and acrylics, using pen as the primary medium was a challenge. However, I found that the process started smoothly, and with a few trial-and-error attempts, I gradually became more comfortable with the technique. Mr. Jr has been incredibly supportive, offering valuable tips and teaching us various techniques throughout the process. His willingness to praise our efforts has been motivating, helping to build our confidence and keep us engaged in the learning process.
Week 02
This week, Mr. Jr reviewed our progress with the trial-and-error exercises, providing feedback and marking our attempts. He took the time to assess how we were developing our skills and offered suggestions for improvement. After evaluating our progress, he encouraged us to move on to the next step and begin working on the actual drawing. This was an exciting moment, as it marked the transition from experimenting to creating more polished, final illustrations. I completed my first task this week and was quite satisfied with the results. After putting in considerable effort to refine my drawing techniques and apply what I had learned in class, I felt confident in the final outcome. I made sure to carefully review everything before submitting it, ensuring all aspects were up to standard. I was pleased to hand in the task ahead of the deadline, which gave me a sense of accomplishment and relief. The positive feedback from Mr. Jr also boosted my confidence and motivated me to continue improving as I move forward in the module.

Starting Week 4, we began our second assignment, which involved using color pencils for scrubbing—a completely new drawing medium for me. When I saw Mr. Jr demonstrate the technique with his examples, I thought it looked difficult, but when I tried it myself, I quickly realized just how challenging it really was. The process was tricky, and I made several mistakes during my trial-and-error attempts. My initial results didn’t look as polished or smooth as I had hoped. However, despite the struggles, I kept pushing forward, trying to understand the nuances of using color pencils in this way. It was frustrating at times, but I knew it was part of the learning process, and I was determined to improve.
Week 05
This week, we delved deeper into mastering the color pencil technique, focusing on refining our skills during the trial-and-error phase. Each stroke required precision and control, and I worked hard to improve my blending and shading techniques. After completing the practice phase, Mr. Jr reviewed our work, provided detailed feedback, and gave us the go-ahead to begin the actual drawing.
To be honest, this has been the most challenging drawing method I’ve ever encountered. The scrubbing technique demands not only technical skill but also a lot of patience and attention to detail. Despite the difficulty, I found it rewarding to see my gradual progress and how the feedback helped me improve. Starting the actual drawing feels daunting, but I’m motivated to tackle it head-on and give it my best effort.
Because I spent so much time and effort earlier focusing on how to make my illustration look more refined and detailed, I didn’t realize how quickly the submission week had arrived. Realizing the deadline was approaching, I worked efficiently to finalize my piece, ensuring every detail was completed to the best of my ability. Despite the rush, I managed to submit my work on time. This experience taught me the importance of balancing quality with time management, as both are crucial in meeting deadlines without compromising on the final outcome.

Week 09
I presented my trial-and-error attempts to Mr. Jr for feedback, and I was thrilled when he approved my work. His positive response reassured me that I was on the right track and gave me the confidence to move forward. With his approval, I have now started working on the actual drawing, applying everything I learned during the practice phase.
Before beginning, I reviewed my test samples and notes to ensure I could replicate the desired effects consistently. Starting the final piece feels both exciting and challenging, as I aim to achieve a polished and professional result. I’m taking extra care with my color blending, marker control, and composition to ensure the final drawing meets the standards we’ve been working toward in class. Having Mr. Jr’s guidance throughout this process has been incredibly helpful, and I’m eager to see how my final piece will turn out.
Week 10
The submission week for this assignment finally arrived, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, I faced delays that almost prevented me from completing it on time. It was a stressful situation, as I wanted to ensure my work was polished and met all the requirements. Despite the setbacks, I pushed myself to stay focused and worked diligently to finish everything. Thankfully, I managed to complete the assignment and submit it just in time. This experience taught me the importance of planning for unexpected challenges and staying adaptable under pressure. I'm relieved to have handed in my work and look forward to receiving feedback to improve further.
Task 03 Reflection:
Task 03 was a challenging yet rewarding experience that allowed me to explore a new medium and push the boundaries of my creativity. Working with markers for the first time was intimidating initially, as it required precision, control, and an understanding of color application that I had not encountered before. However, through consistent practice, trial and error, and guidance from Mr. Jr, I gradually built my confidence and honed my skills.
One of the biggest lessons from this task was the importance of preparation. Testing and labeling the colors beforehand helped me achieve consistency and saved time during the actual drawing process. Despite some unexpected challenges that caused minor delays, I managed to complete and submit the assignment on time.
This task taught me to embrace new techniques and adapt to unfamiliar situations. It also reinforced the value of persistence and planning. I’m proud of how much I’ve grown through this process and look forward to applying these lessons in future projects.
Final Task - Mix Media Dry & Wet Media
Week 11
The final task of this module has arrived, marking an exciting culmination of all the techniques and skills we’ve learned. For this assignment, we were required to select a fashion editorial image featuring models in dynamic poses. Using the chosen models and their positions as the base, we had to incorporate our own garment designs from our fashion project into the drawing. To bring the illustration to life, we were encouraged to use watercolor as our wet media, combined with the dry media techniques we explored in previous assignments, such as color pencils and markers.
This task is particularly challenging as it demands not only creativity but also technical precision to seamlessly integrate our designs with the editorial composition. Selecting a suitable image was a critical step, as the model's pose needed to complement the aesthetic of our garments. Thankfully, Mr. Jr provided valuable guidance in helping us choose images that aligned with our designs and were technically manageable to illustrate.
Balancing wet and dry media in a cohesive way adds another layer of complexity, but I’m excited to take on the challenge. This task feels like a true test of everything we’ve learned, from drawing techniques and media application to design interpretation and creativity.
Week 12
Even during the trial-and-error stage, I found this task to be quite challenging. I had already made several attempts to sketch my design onto the model I had chosen, but translating the proportions and details accurately proved to be difficult. Capturing the essence of my garment while ensuring it fit naturally with the model’s pose required a lot of focus and adjustments.
To make the process more manageable, I decided to start by using Procreate on my iPad. This allowed me to experiment with proportions, composition, and layering more efficiently before committing to paper. Working digitally gave me the flexibility to undo and refine elements quickly, which was particularly helpful in this initial stage.
Once I felt confident with my digital sketch, I transitioned to paper to apply the techniques we’ve learned, such as blending wet and dry media. This method not only saved time but also helped me build a stronger foundation for the final drawing. It’s been a demanding process, but these iterative steps are helping me approach the task with more confidence and clarity.
Week 13
I continued working on my drawing, feeling more confident as I progressed. After experimenting with different techniques during the trial-and-error stage, I had gained a better understanding of how to approach the task. The practice sessions helped me refine my methods, from choosing the right colors to blending wet and dry media effectively.
Once I felt comfortable with the process, I was finally able to start on the actual drawing. With the lessons learned from my previous attempts, I was able to approach the final piece with more precision and creativity. The foundation I built during the trial-and-error phase allowed me to focus on adding more details and enhancing the overall composition of my design, making it feel much more cohesive and polished. This stage has been rewarding, as I could see my skills developing with each stroke.
Week 14
Finally, we’ve reached the end of the task, and submission week has arrived. Throughout the process, there were moments when I felt overwhelmed and even considered giving up. The pressure, especially during the trial-and-error stages, was intense, and there were times when the challenges seemed too much to handle. However, I managed to pull myself together each time, pushing through the frustrations and self-doubt.
Looking at my final piece now, I feel a deep sense of accomplishment. Although it's not perfect and there are areas I would have liked to improve, I am incredibly proud of what I’ve achieved. The progress I’ve made—from the initial struggles to the final submission—feels like a significant personal victory. It’s a reminder that growth often comes with difficulty, and every challenge faced along the way has contributed to my development as an artist.
