Recap of Task 2
In task 2, I have made an observation, analysis, and interpretation about the art work that I have choose from task 1. After doing task 2, I have now a more clearly understanding about the art work that I have choose and know more about design principles, it has help me in my final design since after doing it.

Recap of Task 3
In this assignment, I will produce a final design art work based on the UNSDG and art work that I have chosen. Before produced my final work, I have done 3 sketches of different ideas in a similar way and style, this would help me in completing my final work perfectly. Other than that, I also have the visual reference for my work, this is important because the work that I have done will come out with the reference of those art work.

Visual Reference

United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) : Goal 5, Gender Equality

This art work above is from a French artist, Nicole Eisenmen. Having grappled with issues of gender, race, violence and inequality throughout her creative career, she draws from personal experience and connects it to broader political concerns to form a unique blend of emotionally charged tension and dark humour. Eisenmen explores representations, tropes and narratives about woman in art history and wider visual culture.

For examples, in the first image of Nicole Eisenmen, she had no mention the gender of the human in the in the middle of the painting, but she had mentioned that it is a female in every perspective such as naked for the artist to draw, everyone's eye attention is on it, the naked female drawing that are hanging on the wall behind. While for the second image, mans is doing anything like driving, retains slaves and doing nothing, but the woman in the painting his taking care of a baby and doing house chores.

From the unique perspective and the topics of concern by Nicole Eisenmen, her work has become one of my visual reference.

Other than Nicole Eisenmen's art work, these work are from a Chinese artist call Xue Ming Yue. The art work above are two of the image from her art work called "Descent". This set of work has been collected and displayed by the Central Art Museum of China.

The lives of most married woman revolve around the elderly, husband and children, and they are more responsible for the identities of wives, daughters and mothers. So where is "self" ? "Descent" reflects on the female role setting and female power in daily scenes, and seeks another possibility for female self-construction in advocating female self-secrifice and socially dominant discourse. It aims to call on woman to find and rebuild themselves in marriage, balance the relationship between self and others, and not be domesticated by marriage.

The central idea and design concept form "Descent" has coincidentally with my work ideas, so it has been a very strong and useful visual reference for me.

Sketches

First Sketches:

The hand of woman in the middle have been tie by a rope in her back, giving the meaning of he freedom has been limit. The dead tree in front of the woman means that her hope and dream has been kill by the reality, and hang up with the kid, house chores and her former self.
The design principles that have been used in this sketches is unsymmetrical balance.

Second Sketches:

The hand of the woman that are wearing a wedding dress have been tie in her back meaning of she had loose all her freedom. All of her success has been hide under the ground and the people around her tell her that a woman do not need to have so powerful and so much success, if she had a good husband and cute child then her life will be the most perfect.
The design principles that have been used in this sketches is unsymmetrical balance.

Third Sketches:

Expend from the second sketches, the bride that her hand have been tie in the back are holding a sword, it means that she wanted to resist but she are powerless now. The people around her had been change to a man shadow and no more lights on her, she had now lives in the shadow of a man and all of the shine and bright before she get married has now all on the man in front of her. The wound on her body is the proof of domestic violence after failed resistant.
The design principles that have ben used in this sketches is symmetrical balance.

Final Work

Task 3
"The Garden Under Me"

Rational

The UNSDG Goals that I have chosen along all of my assignment is the goal number 5, gender equality. This goal which is focus on to achieve gender equality and empowered all woman and girl. This goal encompasses various targets aimed at addressing gender disparities and promoting equal opportunities for all genders in areas such as education, economic participation, political representation, and access to healthcare and decision-making processes. This means making sure that girls and women have the same rights as boys and men in things like going to school, getting a job, being involved in politics, and getting healthcare.

So for the concept of my final art work was inspired by my visual reference art work from above, the examples that I have meet in my real life and a Taylor Swiift's song call "The last great American dynasty". All of them have a similarity which is the main character of the story is a woman, and all of them had been bound by a man or by marriage, the successful that have been gain by them before marriage have all been attributed to a man after getting married. But when somethings goes wrong, the world put all the blame to the woman. Other than that, in the history, there is also a lot of man scientist robbing female scientists’ success and transferred to himself and displayed to the world, while keeping silent about female scientists.
One of the examples that where the achievement of a female scientist were attribute to man is the case of Rosalind Franklin, a scientist who helped find out how DNA looks. This discovery was really important for understanding how our bodies work. But, even though she did a lot of the work, two male scientists, James Watson and Francis Crick, got most of the credit for it. They used Franklin's research without giving her the credit she deserved. This shows that sometimes, female scientists' work isn't recognized, and men get the credit instead. Other similar encounter also happens on Emmy Noether and Lise Meitner. It seems that this phenomenon has become the norm from ancient times to keeping silent about woman's success or even transferring all their success to another man, but blaming all the faults on woman.

Turn back to my final art work, I have made an illustration digital drawing. The main character of the whole art work is a girl wearing a wedding dress but with sad emotion. Both of her hand had been tied to her back by a thick rope, this had given meaning that her freedom had been limit and cannot do whatever she want since the marriage had kidnapped her true self. The man infant of the woman is where the man that she married, as we can see, all of the light surrounding has been shine on the man while all had left  for the girl was only the shadow from the back of the man, this has also giving the meaning of the world attributes girls' achievements to men, and girls can only live in the shadow of men. They locked her hands because they were afraid that she would resist and transfer her achievements to men because they were afraid that she would be too dazzling and that she would not obediently submit to men and families. While the garden that had been seen on the woman's skirt is her achievement but now can only been hide under with the wedding dress.
Contrast and Emphasis has been seen on the woman's skirt which is where the garden are, the overall saturation of colours of the art work are very low but the colours of the garden are still bright and high saturation, it has give the whole image a different kind of colours and feelings, even though it is only been in the lower part of the image but the eye catching level has been take up the large part of the image.

Final Reflection

Trough this assignment, I have get to know two new artist that are doing the art of the theme Gender Equality, usually there had not much artist doing such topics, and now I have get the opportunity to know more about them. Moreover, I get a chance to let me spread all my feelings and inspiration to my art work in this task, art will be the most straightforward and strong signal media for people to spread out what they wanted to talk in visual way.

The TGC(Taylor's Graduate Capabilities) that I have gain from this assignment is problem solving skills, doing research in the visual reference part had given me the opportunity to think more about the gender equality and know more about the gender equality problem that had in the world. Other than that, I have also gain lifelong learning, using procreate to complete my digital illustration drawing had given me a chance to use and learn more about digital drawing skills. Lastly, global perspective is also one of the TGS's I have gain since gender equality problem is a "world wide problem" I has happen in every places, every culture and every community in the world.
