Recap of Task 1
In task 1, we had learnt about the design principles and design elements and made a simple description about each design principles. After that, we had studied about the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), from all of the goals we need to choose out one goal to become our theme for all of our assignment of this module. So, I have chosen the Goal 5 which is the Gender Equality.
Based on the goal that I have chosen, I have chose an art work named "Come into Bloom" that are from a New York based artist, Zhijun He. Then, I have deeply studied about the art work and gave explanation of the chosen art work.
Phase 1 : Observation
As for visual element, this illustration art work are roughly composed by red and white colours and some embellishment of black colours. Overall, this art work used simple colours and did not use a lot of colours, but the contrast that brought out between the colours has made the work became more relevant to the topic. There are a lot of space in this art work, but it is to gather the main focus point to the girl.

Phase 2 : Analysis
This design is contrast using colours, due to the
overall light colours using in the art but
emphasis with red in the flowers part can catch people's
attention at first glance.
Second, repetition is also one of the principles that I have observed, the flowers are
more using same shapes and colours with same object that will let the
drawing looks more neat and clean although it had been arrange in a random
way but as long as it follows the rules of repetition, it seen to be neat
and clean.
Thirdly, principle of movement has been reflect in the the direction in which petals fall and the direction they move after falling, this has clearly show out what the artist wanted to express using the flower petals.
Lastly, this design is asymmetrical balance, as we can see that it is not totally balance in the left part and right part of the art, but elements and the feelings that bring out is the same.

Phase 3 : Interpretation

This illustration art work is collected in one of the artist's art series, Blade in Crimson, all of the illustration in this series are to exposing the evil side of sexism and calling for gender equality. Image A & B is some of the illustration art work that are included in the series. Moreover, this illustration art work has been chosen winner in American Illustration 42.
However, I have find out the illustration styles of all the art work of this artist (including image A & B) reflects that on freehand digital illustration. Freehand digital illustration is a vibrant artistic style where artists use digital tools to create drawings directly on a digital canvas, preserving the spontaneity of hand-drawn sketches. This approach often features loose lines, dynamic colors, and a sense of creative freedom, combining the traditional charm of freehand techniques with the benefits of digital precision.
Look for details such as the use of crimson, as it can evoke strong emotions, passion, or even danger. Consider the composition and arrangement of elements, as well as any recurring motifs that Zhijun He often incorporates into her work.
This illustration art work which had a very meaningful central idea had gave the digital illustration with warmth significance.

Self Reflection
This assignment had gave me a chance to study an art work into more details part, usually when we saw and artwork we will just get to know the title, artist and surface meaning that the artist wanted to bring out. But through this assignment I have to parse the artwork in every details, including the artwork itself and the background of the artwork creation, only I have realise that we have always ignore or skip the interesting details in an artwork. This process is totally new to me and I found out that it is fun and it had help me in my own artwork and design work, I will put in more effort and meaningful details into my own works after this and make it more complete and interesting.
The TGC (Taylor's Graduate Capabilities) that I have learnt in this assignment is global perspective, as related to the UNSDG that I have chosen, I have now a more attention on the gender inequality problem in the world and community that I live, by studying Zhijun He "Blade in Crimson" art work series I have realised that gender inequality is not only happened in family problem but also in the employment and their lifelong happiness. Secondly, discipline specific knowledge also one of the TGC that I have gain, in phase 2 with the full explanation and reasons of the design principles that I have choose for the Illustration artwork from the last assignment, had really given me a very clearly understanding of every design principles. Lastly, lifelong learning of doing research of an artwork and make explanation of it really needs the ability of doing research and must have a clear understand of the artwork, so trough this assignment I have learn on doing a very deeply and clearly research but not just only doing the surface research.
